TMO*

TMO is the three character prefix for modules in Landmark's monitor called The Monitor. The Monitors (TMONs) are performance monitors that provide online performance data collection for real-time analysis. Operators and analysts in IBM CICS, MVS, DB2, and VTAM environments use them as capacity planning and problem resolution tools.

TMON604 is a TMON module that often uses large amounts of CPU. In version 8.1, mod level 911C of TMON, you have two possible performance improvement opportunities for TMON604, section TMON604. Follow these steps to check the TMON options that can cause excess CPU consumption:

  • Look at a cross monitor screen in TMON (this should show you what region you're logged onto), and select the region you want.

  • You should see options 1-10. Select option 10 - System Administration.

  • More options will appear under the System Administration heading. Select option 2 - Internal Data Collection Controls.

  • You will see page 1 of 7. PF10 to go to page 2.

  • Control Description - Fast Path Active: Select or key YES. The default is NO.

  • Control Description - CMPDY

  • Active - Select or key NO if you are running monitor control program in the SIT table.

  • Active - Select or key YES if you are not running monitor control program in the SIT table. .
