DSNXSWFM

DSNXSWFM manages temporary files for Db2 sorts. It is a Relation Data Systems (RDS) component.

The work files used by sort are logical work files. These logical work files reside in work file table spaces in the work file database (DSNDB07 in a non data-sharing environment). When writing to the logical work file, DB2 uses the buffer pool. The only limits on the number of work files that can be used for sorting is the size of the buffer pool.

Hints

It is a good idea to dedicate a separate buffer pool for sort work files if there are many concurrent or large sorts. This will greatly simplify workfile performance tuning.
