DFSSBCN0

Module DFSSBCN0 in load module DFSSBIL0 is part of OSAM sequential buffering. It initializes fields when a program changes position within a database, by issuing an IMS call with an SSA qualified at the root key level. OSB keeps track of sequential access reference patterns in OSAM databases at the data set group/DASD volume level. DFSSBCN0 sets a bit in the control block for each dataset set group when the root key qualified call is issued. This bit signals that potentially a new sequential reference pattern is starting.

Hints

In a job with high OSAM I/O activity DFSSBCN0 might have a very small but measurable CPU use. It should never be a performance consideration. However, if there is more than .1% CPU use, it could indicate that OSB is not being used effectively and might not be suitable for this job or for a particular database within a job.
