SVC 052

SVC 052 is a Type 5 SVC issued by the RESTART macro. This macro gets the LOCAL, CMS, and SALLOC locks and call load module IEFRSTRT.

Restart allows the job to be restarted at the beginning of a job step or at a checkpoint.

There are two types of restart, automatic and deferred. Automatic system restart is restarted at the beginning of a job step that has abended. With checkpoint/restart, the job is restarted at the last checkpoint taken before the job failed.

When the RESTART parameter is specified on the job statement, a deferred restart occurs. Deferred restart occurs at the beginning of the job step or the checkpoint specified in the job statement.
