SVC 023

SVC 023 is a Type 4 SVC issued by the temporary close routine (TCLOSE), when a CLOSE TYPE=T is issued. This macro gets a LOCAL lock.

SVC 023 is used instead of SVC 020 with BSAM and VSAM datasets, which can be temporarily closed.

SVC 023 performs all the operations of a CLOSE routine except the DCB or ACB is not restored to its original state, and the DEB is not released. This allows the processing program to resume reading or writing to the dataset without reopening it.
