SVC 026

SVC 026 is a Type 4 SVC issued by the CATALOG/INDEX/LOCATE macro that does not get a lock and calls the load module IGC0002F.

It updates catalogs when datasets are opened or closed. It puts the address of either an OS/VS CAMLST or a VSAM catalog management parameter list in R1.

Hints

The CPU and wait time spent in SVC 026 can be reduced and possibly avoided by removing excessive opens and closes to VSAM and QSAM files. Use the attribution reports to determine the area of code that invokes the SVC.
